Latest Updates from Our Project:

Progress Report
almost 3 years ago – Wed, Apr 19, 2023 at 05:45:09 AM

Hey guys,

Hope youre doing well. Quick update to let you know how things are going and update the production timeline.

Funds Arrived - So no problems there, we're ready to move forward.

Backerkit - Coming Soon. Been working on adding a few previous designs too, but not quite ready yet.

Samples Arrived -our first set of samples for stretch goals came back from the factory. Not too happy with how the Mars design turned out, although i think it can be fixed with some small changes. Leaving the black lines out was probably a mistake, so we'll try again. Hissy Fit design coming back soon too.  What would you change about these two?

Production Timeline (Estimate)

16th April: Funds Collected

25th April: Backerkit store open and surveys sent

30th April: Second set of samples received and analysed.

8th May: Orders locked

*10th May: Socks go into production

10th June: Socks finished and sent to fulfilment

20th June: Socks begin shipping.

And finally... in totally unrelated news - a week or two ago my partner persuaded me it would be the best thing ever if we got a 3rd (and final!) dog. She's promised not to ask for any more. So here she is. Her name is Snowy and here's a photo. Thanks for reading!

Vote + Feedback Needed + Stretch #2!
about 3 years ago – Tue, Mar 21, 2023 at 09:23:56 PM

Hey guys,

Hope you're having a good week so far. Welcome aboard to the new guys who just found us in the last few days. We have a vote, some news and a mystery solved to go over in this update.

Stretch Goal 2: $6000

Which one do you prefer?

This is a little design i like to call TM. Based on a game in which you change the environment on a nearby planet. I'm sure many of our biggest table top gamers will recognise it. We've gone for more realistic on the top of the foot (which you can't really see here) and more of a nice pattern on the sides, so they look good. What do you guys think? A: Blue, B: Green or C: Redesign?

Currently we're at $5050 with 5 days to go, so this is doable, especially with the last few days often being among the best. We also should hopefully have the help of another licensed design (Chili Mafia) to get us over the line.

We Need Your Help!

Although the next goal is doable, we could really use your help too. So please feel free to share this campaign page with friends or family on social media if you can. Or better yet, message one person you know who loves games and let them know about the project. They may just thank you for it later! You can also find an easy way to share this project by going to our fb or Instagram pages below.

A Bonus Design?

You wait all morning for a bus and then two come along at once! Such is the way with socks too sometimes. This isn't a vote or anything but more a call for feedback from anyone who has played a certain train based game to let me know what you think and what could be improved upon. I think these may be available as an add on at the end of the project, if we can finish it in time. We've been through so many iterations, but i'm starting to think we're close now.

Feedback Welcome

Mystery Solved

Thank you for letting me know last week where the sudden burst of backers came from. Our friends over at Hissy Fit finally revealed our collaboration and thats what got us over the first stretch goal line. I figured it was probably that. Their pledge manager just opened up today, so if you didn't back it but want to see what th hype is about, go check them out at the link below.

Take care and have a great day guys.

1st Stretch Goal: Complete! (Quick Update + Vote)
about 3 years ago – Thu, Mar 16, 2023 at 12:13:36 AM

Hey guys,

Hope you're all doing great! Here's a quick update on how things are going with the project.

Campaign News

Things have been quiet yet busy over here at Sock Invaders HQ. After a crazy first week of funding, we've just been drifting for the last week, looking for anyone to help us reach the first stretch goal. And then from seemingly out of nowhere, yesterday we stumbled upon some wonderful new backers who helped smash the first stretch goal. Still trying to figure out where they came from, but they've made the difference. So here it is, your choice of A or B for the first Stretch Goal. Please let us know in the comments.

Please Vote!

Stretch Goal 2

Well, i've been trying to rustle us up another licensed deal in a cross promo with one of the many dice related kickstarters.  But so far... no dice. So i'm just going to leave it up to you guys. Which classic (or possibly new) game would you like us to sockify? As many as few suggestions as you like. I have in mind a fairly easy modern game whose initials are T. M.

Licensed Deal #2

We managed to add another modern game design to the project, thanks to the lovely guys over at Lemery Games. They're a couple that travel the world and make games based on their adventures. It looks like this will be an optional Add On that joins at the end of the campaign. The game is called Chili Mafia! Its a very bright, colorful and spicy game and we're enjoying the design process so far.

Personal News

I just want to share that this project has actually inspired something much bigger behind the scenes that's been keeping me very busy. In talking to other project creators about making sock designs for them, i realised there's a market for creating socks as add ons and stretch goals for  their campaigns rather than for mine. It was an idea right in front of my nose all these years but i didn't quite see it. So, i'm very grateful to you guys and this project for helping me to realise a chance to potentially do this on a more regular basis. You guys are the best!

Thanks and have a great day.

NEW DESIGN AVAILABLE! + More Info
about 3 years ago – Sun, Mar 05, 2023 at 09:08:57 PM

Hey guys, hope youve had a brilliant weekend. Sorry for the lack of updates over the last week, been working hard on a few sock related things. I'll start with the biggest news...

We're Funded! :D

Thank you so much for making this possible. Really appreciate the response and its great to get it over the finish line with a few weeks to spare. So we can work on getting extra designs added. You guys are the best!

New Design Added: Hissy Fit!

As you may know, i've been working hard behind the scenes to see if we can get some licensed designs and work with other game creators to bring their games to the sock world. And our first partner on this project is a game called Hissy Fit, by creator Chris Stone.

Please note this is a photoshop render. Not a sample. That's coming.

The campaign recently finished on KS, with over 1000 backers supporting it. It's a cooperative card game, especially ideal for cat owners and cat lovers. I got myself a copy and i'm looking forward to playing it at my games meetups here in Bangkok. For this design, we used the cat meeple they provided, along with some of their talented artist's other artwork (by coincidence she's also from Thailand). Hopefully we've brought out the essence of the game and made a fun sock out of it. Feel free to let us know your thoughts.

Although the campaign is over, there is a way to sign up and be able to make a late pledge. There's even a print and play version available. So whether you love cats as much as me or not, i hope you'll welcome this game into the collection along with the other classics. Click the image to check out their campaign page and sign up for updates to their campaign.

The Meeples Have Spoken...

Thank you everyone who voted for the meeple design. I'm happy/sad to announce that Option A was the winner on votes. But C was a close second. So here's what i'll do. We'll probably do one more vote before the end of the campaign to really refine the design and get one that more people like. We'll go in the direction of A, but not completely discount purple as the background color for the final vote.

Campaign Plans

I realise it may appear that our project is now drifting quietly through space and time, occasionaly picking up 1 or 2 backers on a good day. I really didnt do a whole lot of paid promotion for this as i wasn't sure if we would get funded or not. Instead I made it a long one so i could work on partnerships and also test various marketing initiatives to see if any actually work or not. But with hopefully a few official partnerships and promotions, we can get atleast 1 or 2 stretch goal designs added by the end.

Thanks again to everyone for giving us a chance. Have a great day!

Jonathan :)
